An Obscure Introduction

Updated: May 8, 2020

Hello, my real name is Doug Pope, although some of you might say I'm Obscure. I picked up my first camera in 2016, as a way to capture snapshots of every day life. My camera was with me nearly everywhere I went. I soon found myself OBSESSED with taking pictures, and I remember one day, after a walk through abandoned ruins with my friends, I was sitting at my desk editing photos and listening to chillstep music

, and I remember telling one of my friends, "I could really get used to this."

When 2017 rolled around, I was spending 40-50 hours a week learning about photography, and practicing portraiture with friends and family. My first paid shoot actually came through craigslist in response to a post I had made about wanting to get better. I was offered $100 to photograph someone before their birthday. That is when I decided to pursue photography even further.

By the end of 2018, I was doing real estate photography for Sparks Media Group, and in 2019 I left Sparks Media Group in order to focus on my own business. As a freelance photographer, I learned about the creative side of portraiture, and during my time with Sparks Media Group, I learned the importance of time management, communication, and attention to detail. I carry these fundamental qualities with me today, as well as the innate desire to create unique, memorable portraiture. I enjoy connecting with each individual client, and capturing these rare moments to be cherished forever!

My #1 goal is to let your Obscurity shine!

If you happen to know anyone in Concord CA, or the California Bay Area who is looking for San Francisco Bay Area portraits, or anyone in the Bay Area goth scene who might be looking for Bay Area goth portraits, feel free to contact me or send them my way and together we can make memories with a difference!

Thank you for reading my blog, and if anything I've said resonates with you, feel free to share a post with your friends and family!
